The following sequences of events gives you a step-by-step guide to creating a new mail account using Microsoft Exchange Client with Windows 95. Ensure that you have your Powernet nodename and password available before starting.
At the Windows Desktop screen, double-click the My Computer icon and the My Computer sub-screen will be displayed.
At this screen, double-click the Control Panel icon and the Control Panel sub-screen will appear.
At the Control Panel sub-screen, double-click the Mail icon and the following window will be displayed.

At the Services tab, highlight the Internet Mail option and click on the Properties button. An Internet Mail screen similar to the one below will be displayed.

Complete the fields in the Personal Information section as follows:
Enter your name or company name in the Full name field. This is what the recipient of an email from you will see. Enter your e-mail address in the E-mail address field.
At the Mailbox Information section, enter the Internet mail server name as pop3.powernet.co.uk.
Enter your nodename in the Account name field and your case sensitive password in the Password field.
To configure the outgoing mail server, click the Advanced Options button and the following window will appear.
Enter the name of the outgoing mail server as mail.powernet.co.uk. Click OK to close the window and save the settings.

You now need to set up the connection settings. At the Internet Mail screen, click the Connection tab and the following screen will be displayed.

If you select the option Connect using the network, connection will be made by Exchange client through your LAN (Local Area Network).
If you select the option Connect using the modem, select the Powernet connection from the drop down menu for dialling the connection. When you send or receive mail, a connect screen will automatically appear with the correct settings.
Once this information has been entered, select OK to save the settings and close the screen. Click OK to close the Option screen.
You are now ready to use Exchange client.
Open exchange by clicking the Inbox Icon on your desktop. The Inbox - Windows messaging screen will be displayed. Click on the Tools option on the toolbar and click Deliver Now to receive your mail.
