This step-by-step walkthrough will help you to set up a new mail account for Netscape 6.
On your desktop screen double-click on the Netscape icon and the Netscape browser will open. Move your mouse pointer to the lower left-hand corner of the window and click the envelope icon . The mail window will open and the New Account Set-up wizard window will be displayed. This wizard will take you through a series of steps to help you set-up your account.

Ensure the radio button for ISP or email provider is selected and click the Next button, the identity window will appear.

In the 'Your Name' field, enter your full name. In the 'Email Address' field, enter your Powernet email address. Click Next to proceed to the server information window.
At this window, enter the names of the server that will deal with the e-mail account post.

In the Incoming server section, set the server type to the default, Pop Mail Server. At the Server Name field, type in pop3.powernet.co.uk.
In the Outgoing (SMTP) server section, type mail.powernet.co.uk in the server name field. Click Next to proceed to the subsequent window, User Name.

At the User Name field, enter your Powernet nodename. Click Next to open the Account Name window.

Type in a friendly name for the account; it can be anything you like, for example Jane's Netscape Mail Account.
Click Next and the Congratulations window will be displayed. All the required information has now been entered and the set up of your account is complete.

Click Finish to close the wizard and click Ok to return to the mail window.
Set Up Another New Mail Account
Click on the Netscape Icon on your desktop screen and the browser will open. Move your mouse pointer to the lower left-hand corner of the window and click the envelope icon , the mail window will open. On the toolbar, click Edit to open the following menu.

Select the Mail & News Account Settings option from the menu and the Account Settings window will open.

Any existing account details will be displayed in the text box. Select the New Account button and the New Account Set up wizard will appear. Follow the instructions as for settings up your first account.
Sending a Message
To send a message click on the envelope icon and the mail window will open.
Select the New Message icon and the Compose window will appear. If you have other accounts set up, select the correct account to use from the drop down list in the 'from' field.

Enter the recipients name in the 'To' field and enter the subject matter of the message. Compose your message and click the send button to transmit your message.
