Configuration of Outlook XP

This walkthrough shows you how to set up Outlook XP under Windows XP. Ensure that you have your Powernet nodename and password available before setting up the connection.

From the Main Windows 'Desktop' screen click the Outlook XP icon. Outlook will open and the following screen will be displayed, allowing you to configure your email account.

User Information

At the Your Name field, enter your Full name or Company name. This is the name that will appear on all emails sent by you.

At the E-mail address field, enter your Power Internet e-mail address using the following format username@nodename.powernet.co.uk.

Server Information

At the E-mail Server Names fields enter the following information:

• for the Incoming e-mail server, enter pop3.powernet.co.uk
• for the Outgoing e-mail server, enter mail.powernet.co.uk

Logon Information

In the User Name field, enter your Powernet nodename.

Enter your password in the Password field, and put a tick in the Remember password box.

Remember the user name must be in lowercase and the password is case sensitive.

Once all the information has been entered click the More Settings button and the following screen will appear.

At the Mail Account field enter the name of the mail server as pop3.powernet.co.uk. Click OK to close this screen.

At the E-mail Accounts screen click Next to continue. At the final screen click on Finish to complete the set up.
