Group e-mail

Where several people in your organisation all use e-mail, Powernet can offer a number of different solutions to meet your possible needs.

The simplest method is to have a separate POP mailbox for each individual, so they can choose to check their e-mail often as they feel necessary. We can provide any domain mappings you may require, so that each person also has an e-mail address based upon your organisation's name.

The next stage up from this is to have your organisation's e-mail delivered by SMTP. This generally involves having your own mail server at your organisation. E-mail is delivered directly to your mail server, which then sorts the mail into local POP boxes for your staff to retrieve as required. There are many advantages to this approach:

Unlimited configurations - you have full control over how all your e-mail is sorted and delivered: for example, you can choose to increase or decrease your number of POP boxes at will, perhaps to reflect changes in personnel. You might also want all e-mails to a particular address (eg 'info@...') to be received by more than one individual
Control of Internet budgets - once all your employees can send and receive e-mail through your own local mail server, there is no need for them to connect to the Internet every time they wish to send or receive e-mail - which can be costly through a dial-up or ISDN connection. You can simply instruct your mail server to connect to the Internet periodically (for example, every 30 minutes between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Friday) to collect new messages for your organisation and send on any mail that has been queued for despatch by your staff
Monitoring and statistical analysis - you will have access to a wealth of statistics, such as the number of incoming/outgoing e-mails over a given period by each employee, thus helping you to determine the most effective type of an Internet connection for your organisation or to monitor possible abuse from staff
E-mail backup and archiving - although Powernet stores all e-mail in duplicate, so there is little chance of e-mail being lost, we are unable to store e-mail that has already been collected. A local mail server, however, allows you to keep an archive of all previously received e-mails.
