Anniversaries at Powergroup

10 Sep 2007

Simon McGill and Rebecca Barnett celebrated their 10th anniversary at Powergroup in August after joining the company in 1997.

Simon said “When I started at Powergroup as the first employee in the technical department the Internet was a very different place. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer was only at version 1.02 and could fit on a single floppy disk!

Over the years I have seen Powergroup expand at the same growth rate as Microsoft’s browser in size and complexity. We have gone from single user dial-up connections and customers requiring just a single page for their website up to multi-layered, multi-homed fast and secure private and Internet based networks requiring all sorts of custom code and database integration for our customers.

It gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction knowing that our home and corporate customers alike trust me with looking after the connectivity required to run their businesses.”,

Rebecca added “I was the first administrative employee, working in the Finance department, I was quite little and so was the company. Powergroup is no longer the little company it once was, in this dynamic industry change is essential. The challenge has been to keep the feel and spirit of a close knit community in the framework of the company, which I think this has been achieved. Powergroup has grown upwards and outwards and it has been a privilege to have been part of that.”

Phil Wattis, Managing Director added, “Over the years I have seen Powergroup grow, and its employees grow with it. Good employees are conducive to an enjoyable working environment and help enormously towards making Powergroup a place where staff enjoy making a positive contribution. The level of service from Simon and Rebecca has been exemplary and it has been a joy to work with them. I look forward to it continuing for years to come.”
