Network Application Dissection
If your organisation has deployed customised network applications, you may have simply assumed that security will have been taken care of during design and development, although this may not be the case. Many of the facilities incorporated into organisation's web sites use custom-written scripts that can leave both the site and any underlying databases vulnerable to external scrutiny and malicious damage. Software applications that are unusual in any way - including old legacy systems and 'off-the-shelf' but non-mainstream applications - require specialist scrutiny that exceeds the scope of our Network Probing and Vulnerability service.
While only an advanced hacker is capable of analysing and attacking a custom or non-mainstream application, and the chance of your organisation being attacked is therefore relatively low, the percentage chance of success is even greater for these forms of attack and special scrutiny of potential vulnerabilities is therefore a highly prudent investment.
High Street name and blue chip organisations have already experienced this risk after being systematically attacked over the last few years, often resulting in high profile and unflattering publicity. As advanced hackers spread their nets ever wider, a relatively low public profile does not provide an organisation with anything but an illusion of protection.
Service Details
Our Network Application Dissection service incorporates all the elements found in our Network Probing and Vulnerability service, but with the necessary addition of a manual vulnerability dissection of applications such as web site functionality programming and other bespoke software developments. The amount of time taken to evaluate each application will vary considerably depending on its complexity and hence it is not possible to give meaningful quotations without application.
Once the application dissection is completed, we compile a detailed Network Probe Report that outlines our findings and recommendations in three main sections:
- Current network risks and vulnerabilities
- Risks and vulnerabilities that it appears you may be exposed to in the future
- Recommendations for actions to reduce or eliminate network security vulnerability
As we appreciate that you may not be from a technical background, the report is designed to be easy to understand: we are, of course, always happy to discuss and explain its contents further with you where you feel that this will assist your understanding.
Costs for this service vary dependant on the application concerned. Contact one of our Business Development Managers to further discuss your requirements.
